Opus’ Product Manager Toby Leader explained “Our extensive research programme and dealer feedback concluded there is demand for increased touchscreen sophistication. We have made significant investment developing our interfaces, to ensure we continue to offer a superior user experience. Our powerful, yet easy to use configuration software allows installers to create truly impressive touchscreen interfaces, individually tailored for each client.”
Opus’ graphical user interface is the gateway to its multi-room entertainment system and supports the control of a multitude of integrated third party smart home technologies. Entertainment forms the basis for any Opus multi-room system, offering simple navigation of virtually any source device including Apple TV, iPod, satellite TV, dedicated servers and Windows Media Centre PCs. It is essential users enjoy exceptional intuitive control of these sources. However Opus is not limited to multi-room entertainment, it is also a compelling smart home solution, providing integration and control of a raft of third party applications including lighting, heating, blinds/windows and CCTV.
Toby continued “Opus’ unrivalled interoperability with such a wide range of applications presents significant challenges in maintaining intuitive navigation and consistency across all third party source and control devices. We now have a completely new range of stunning graphics including backgrounds, menu icons, and command icons, allowing installers to design and programme each interface, down to the exact placement of command icons. Furthermore there is the functionality to add welcome screens and branded backgrounds, specific to a company or development. The new graphics, available free of charge to Opus certified dealers, are fully backwards compatible allowing existing touchscreens to be fully upgraded.”
For the ultimate in choice and flexibility, Opus has collaborated with other technology providers, to allow full system control using popular devices, including Philips Pronto and the Apple iPhone. Opus’ drivers enable the exact interfaces created for touchscreens in an individual Opus system, in terms of both appearance and interaction, to be replicated on devices such as the iPhone, for use in any Opus equipped room. Simply press the zone button, select the room, and full control is enabled in that zone. Users can enjoy a full, ‘sit back experience’ for effortless system control, using the same familiar interface, which can also be navigated on a TV display.
