Property developers in the Gulf region are being told that smart home technology can help attract investors shopping around to get the best value for money in what has become a buyer’s market. According to a leading supplier to the GCC market, multi-room entertainment and smart-home automation systems are in growing demand from investors seeking an extra touch of luxury, and can add value beyond the cost of buying and installing it. Opus Technologies will drive that message home to developers assembling in the UAE capital next month for CityBuild Abu Dhabi, the region’s premier exhibition for construction products.
“Multi-room entertainment and smart-home automation systems are seen as a luxurious inclusion to new homes, yet are becoming increasingly expected by investors”, said Steve Simpson, GCC Regional Manager for the UK-based company, which has offices in the UAE and Hong Kong.
“Property developers need to be aware that this is going to be a growing trend, similar to what we’ve seen with the rise in popularity of the fully fitted kitchen with integrated appliances over the last 15 years.”
“This is particularly relevant in the current climate which has created a buyer’s market, and developers need to do more to make their properties stand out to attract investors.”
Opus has installed more than 5,000 smart-home automation systems worth more than US$40 million in the GCC region. Some of its most prestigious projects in Dubai include Oceana, Tiara, and Royal Amwaj on the Palm Jumeirah, along with other projects including Victory Heights, World Trade Centre Residences, and Le Reve Tower. The company now expects to catch the attention of developers with the launch of its latest smart home offering at CityBuild Abu Dhabi, taking place from 17-20 April at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The Opus 6 series is described as the complete wrap around solution to unify all household entertainment sources and home control options. The whole system is delivered through a single intuitive interface, accessible across a variety of control options including Opus touch-screens, Apple iPhone, iPad, and new media navigation via TV user-interface. It also embraces the latest consumer technologies such as Apple TV, Blu-ray, iPod, media streaming, and internet radio. The integration of lighting, heating, windows, blinds and CCTV is said to give home owners the utmost in home luxury and comfort.
The manufacturer will be demonstrating the product to property developers during CityBuild Abu Dhabi and will also use the event to highlight its training and project management expertise. CityBuild Abu Dhabi will once again be co-located with Cityscape Abu Dhabi and, for the first time, Malaysia Services Exhibition.
Cityscape and CityBuild Abu Dhabi, which together attract more than 30,000 visitors, are held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
